Cancer SUCKS!

Cancer SUCKS! That's right, we all hear it all the time. It seems that cancer is taking over the world. It doesn't matter what age, race, sex, etc... it hits anyone and everyone! Cancer does not discriminate at all.

Over the past few years, I have had several of my loved ones, very close to me find out they have cancer. I've lost many family members to cancer as well. More recently my dad found out he had prostate cancer.  They removed his prostate and PRAISE GOD, the lymph nodes had not been affected.  He's blessed! It doesn't turn out that way for everyone. I have friends that are still battling it everyday. It's horrible to watch them go through life daily being in pain or struggling.

It amazes me how in one family there can be so many different types.  We have had prostate, breast, colon, pancreatic and I'm sure more. It makes me wonder why they can't find cures for cancer. I know there is money and research involved, but I sure wish that they would find something that could help CURE it.

I was listening to the radio and heard where they are offering FREE prostate exams at the Harley shop in our town.  I wish more people would get tested. If my dad wouldn't have been having regular check ups, he wouldn't have known he had prostate cancer. He never thought he would get that, he always said colon would be the one to watch out for. That just goes to show you, to always have regular check ups and exams done on all parts of your body. There may not even be any symptoms.

I am very thankful for the life that my dad has been given, that was GOD that watched and took care of him. I'm still praying for several of my friends and family that he will take care of them too. I can't imagine having the constant pain, nagging feeling of wondering if today was your last day.  My friend Michelle is one of my heroes! She found out she had bone cancer a few years ago. I know she has to be in constant pain, and sometimes she says so, but always tries to have a positive outlook on life, each day! In my opinion, she has the right to complain and be unhappy but she chooses to be happy and live each day to the fullest.  She has two beautiful children that she takes care of each day and is thankful to have those days with them. Her scans recently have come back negative as far as it spreading which is a HUGE RELIEF! Again, I thank God for that. I wouldn't know how to deal with knowing I have cancer.

Don't ever think, "It'll never happen to me".  Truth is, cancer does NOT discriminate. Get yourself checked out. Have regular exams. Know your family history and let your doctor know of them as well.
It may save your life! :)

  1. I concur CANCER SUCKS!
Well said! Couldn't agree more on the yearly check ups. I work in a mammography center and you wouldn't believe the amount of women that come year to year and cancer develops in that short amount of time.
