Potty Progress!!!
Posted by: msblhadley on: February 25, 2010
Lakyn HAS taken an interest in her potty chair! She’s pretty used to it. When we change her diaper usually she wants to use the potty. So, we always let her. She does well. I am surprised though that by almost 2 years old she has pooped on the potty 3 times!!!!! That’s so exciting! Briley was so hard to train. I bribed her with toys to get her to use it.
I just hope it comes easier and she wants to more. I leave her alone on it too, so she can do her business…. usually she comes running down the hall screaming to let me know she has used it. I always make a HUGE deal about it, screaming, yelling, clapping to let her know how good it is that she used it. She always gets so excited!! I hope that this means she is going to use it soon and get out of the diapers!!!

A Heavy Heart
Posted by: msblhadley on: January 5, 2010
I have such a heavy heart starting this 2010 new year. It’s so sad to see the many things going on around me that burdeon me. My friends, who are such a big part of my life, are hurting and struggling. Our whole world is so mean, hateful and unjust! With a new year starting, we are suppose to be happy, ready for whatever the good Lord brings our way. Starting off this year, I don’t feel that way. Instead I see such unhappiness, hurt and pain. I hate it. We never know why things happen the way that they do, we are told to trust God to the fullest. All I can do is that. Trust that God knows what he is doing and he will take care of us all. I need to get better at trusting though. I just want to try and solve things myself…. when I know I can’t.
If you’re reading this, say a prayer for my friends. Say a specific prayer for my friend Michelle, whom has cancer. Let the Lord hold her and keep her and his will be done.
Pray for good things this year for everyone. Keep your family and friends near and dear to your heart and tell them, tell them often that you love them. Don’t let a day go by without telling them that. Life is short, even shorter for others. I love you all and hold you all very close to me. XOXO

Summer’s Over!
Posted by: msblhadley on: August 25, 2009
It’s been such a long time since I’ve posted any new topics so this one might be a little long.
School started last week, Briley was excited. She has an awesome teacher this year! That makes going to school so much better sometimes. Last year was rough for her. I guess both 4th grade teachers were the same; in need of retirement! LOL She had tons of homework and hated going to school everyday. I can’t believe though that this is her last year of elementary school. Middle school is a whole different ballgame. I just hope she acquires the tools needed to be successful in middle school. Not only academically but socially too. She doesn’t have many girlfriends and I just don’t want it to be hard on her. Friendship is very important at this age!
We also just finished our first year of Shawn coaching Briley’s travel softball team. What an experience! We had a GREAT bunch of girls on the team. We won some and we REALLY lost some too…lol. But all in all, the girls grew over the year in their performance. Briley has gotten stronger with her pitching but it’s her height that gets her! If only she were just a little bit taller. Maybe she’ll have a growth spurt this year! Then her speed would come too! We just had our next season tryouts on Sunday so we have about 5 new girls on the team. I have never seen Shawn really be burdened down with something before like he was with his decision on who to keep on the team. He was a nervous wreck! I think he made the right decision and for the right reasons too. He said that this was the hardest thing he’s had to do before. When you have girls that you have coached for years and you love them like your own, it’s very rough. However, he is excited on what is to come with our new team and how they will perform! We play our first tournament this weekend, just to see what we have! I’m VERY excited. We’ve been off of softball for about a month now so we’re overdue for games to start up!!
Come on Fall!! I guess I’ll say that since Summer is over and I LOVE the hot weather!

ONE Already??
Posted by: msblhadley on: March 26, 2009

It is so hard for me to believe that my youngest is turning ONE today. March 26th. Wow, I am just amazed at how fast the time flies. It seems like I should still be holding her and smooching on her cheeks, not having her walk, give me kisses and point! She’s grown up so fast and seems to be doing things at record speed. I try to enjoy the little things with her, the ones that I took for granted with Briley. I look at Briley now, 10 years old and wonder where the time with with her as well. Lakyn’s walking all over the place. She is always pointing at things. She’s been doing that for quite some time now.
She has two teeth on the bottom, I SWEAR the others have to all be coming at the same time. She’s had her ups and downs this Winter with being sick. I hate for her to be sick. I keep praying that once the weather breaks, she’ll get better and STAY better. It seems like every time we turn around her nose is running and she’s got some sort of a cold. Immediately we go back to the breathing treatments in hopes of it helping. A friend mentioned that after her daugther had RSV, she was sick off and on for the first 3 years of her life. She said that the doctor’s told her that she’s more susceptible to getting sick, it’s just part of it. I hope we’re lucky and that doesn’t happen to us. But, we’ll still love her.
Anyway, today’s my baby’s birthday. I can’t believe it. We’re celebrating her birthday party on Saturday at the Torner Center at Deming Park. It’s just my luck , there is a 70% chance of rain that day! Oh well, we’ll have a great time anyway. The theme is It’s Ducky to be ONE! Cute stuff I got offline to decorate in. A friend is making a really cute oversized cupcake for her to dig into. I can’t wait, it should be fun. It always is when we’re surrounded by family and friends.
I’ll leave with the pictures we took of her for her birthday party invitations. Enjoy!!!!

Roseola
Posted by: msblhadley on: March 18, 2009
So, we get over the RSV and the day of Joee and Bridget’s wedding, March 13th, Lakyn wakes up not feeling good. She was running a fever and just not acting herself. I debated on whether to take her to the doctor or not. I had a TON of running to do for the wedding. Briley stayed home from school with me that day and was a HUGE help! She stayed in the car with Lakyn while I ran in here and in there and Lakyn was able to sleep. I just went with my gut feeling on it and didn’t take her to the doctor. She stayed with mom and dad that night and ran a fever all night long. Then on Saturday she ran one slightly but then by Sunday, she had NO fever but was breaking out in a rash. That’s when I was certain that it was roseola.

Her whole body broke out in a rash!!! Her eyes, then on her chest/back area and then her legs. And she started feeling better. Roseloa is a viral infection that Briley had when she was a baby too. They can’t treat it, they just run a high fever for a few days with no other symptoms and then when they finally break out in a rash, it’s over. Once I read up on it on the wonderful world of the web, I realized that it came because of the RSV she had. It was about a week later. Roseloa or Fifths Disease is caused by breathing or respiratory issues. Thankfully, she’s over that now!

RSV

I had always heard about RSV in kids. In fact, when Briley was born, it was very common then. Well, lo and behold, Lakyn ended up with it last Thursday. When she woke up in the morning, she was running a 102 fever and was breathing short, hard breaths. It had me very worried. I took her to the doctor only for them to send us to the hospital to be admitted. We were at Regional from Thursday until Saturday night when we were finally released. She has RSV, which I am told is just a common cold, but in babies it is much worse. Babies lungs can’t function with this type of cold. Kids and adults do fine with it and fight it off just fine. She also has pneumonia on the right lung. My poor baby was hooked up to IV’s for 3 days to get better, and thankfully she did. Her oxygen had to be at 95% awake without using oxygen from them. We are doing breathing treatments every 4 hours around the clock and she’s taking meds to help with the pnuemonia.

Lakyn’s First Snow!
Posted by: msblhadley on: February 25, 2009
It’s so fun to watch a child experience something for the very first time! We’ve had some crazy snow around Indiana lately and one morning as we were leaving for daycare, Lakyn saw it for the first time. She’s still in an infant car seat carrier, so as we were headed out the door to the car, she saw the snow falling. It was one of those mornings where it was almost blizzard like conditions so you couldn’t miss the snow. She reached her hand up to try and touch or catch the snowflakes. It was the cutest thing! Once it hit her eyes and face though, she was done so we got in the car.
Later that evening, Shawn and I took her out again to experience the snow and get a reaction.

She watched it in amazement. Shawn took her over to the car to touch the snow, and she did! She turned to me like, WHAT IS THAT?!

She just kind of whimpered a little but didn’t cry. I Think she was done after that so we just went in the house. It was too cold to be out for too long anyway. We didn’t have snow boots to put on her so we didn’t get to see how she would react to standing or sitting in the snow, that’ll come later this year!

I can’t believe that the end of February is this week! It just amazes me that time goes by so quickly. I remember when I was a young and it seemed like the years just inched by. Now that I’m a mom, my girls keep me so busy that it seems that they grow up right before my eyes. Briley just turned 10 in December and Lakyn will be ONE, NEXT MONTH!!! In all the rush, I have been wondering what kind of 1st birthday my little girl should have. I got a magazine in the mail the other day that had various themes and goodies for a 1st birthday. Some of that stuff blew my mind, well the prices did at least!!! I don’t know what kind of party or who we’ll invite but I’m sure it’ll be a very special and memorable one no matter what!
