Blizzard of 2011?

In the 13 years I have been working for Indiana State University, I don't recall them ever closing for snow or ice.  But this is the year that changed!  We got the worst ice storm that this area has seen in years. It kept us all cooped in for at least a couple days.....well, most of us. There were some that were brave enough to venture out, whether it be out of boredom or curiosity.

I first heard about the storm on Sunday when I was doing my normal grocery shopping. I ran into a friend, they asked if I was stocking up for the storm. I was clueless! :)

At work on Monday, all that could be heard outside of my office was how bad it was going to get, what the radars were saying right then, how close it was to us, etc, etc.  I was actually tired of hearing about it. So, when I left work on Monday, I told my boss that if we got what we were suppose to get, I wasn't getting my 2 yr old out in the mess.

Lucky for me, ISU closed it's doors on Tuesday.  It was nice to know that I was going to spend the day in my jammies with my family.  It would be movies and food, my two favorite comforts! When Tuesday night came and Wednesday was closed as well for us, I was actually shocked.

Let me just tell you, two days in my house cooped up is just about enough for me. I cleaned, cooked, went off my diet, wanted to bake and eat the entire time I was home.  It was horrible. I was GLAD to get back to work today!! Who says that? :)  It was nice to get out, just get out of the house.  I did get to clean some things I normally would have kept putting off.

I still have lots of friends that are without power.  We were fortunate enough to not lose ours.  I am praying for those friends to get theirs restored soon.  The energy guys are working their butts off, in the freezing cold trying to get it all restored.  I commend those workers!!!

Spring can NOT get here soon enough. Luckily for us, Phil said that Spring is close!!! I sure hope he's right! :)
